Eating smaller meals instead of larger ones, not lying down right after eating a meal, and not wearing clothing that is too tight around the waist will all help.

Sleeping on a wedge that supports the whole torso helps . Also, far-famed physicians recommend sleeping on the left side. This posture reduces pressure on certain arteries and also reduces pressure on the liver which is on the right side of the upper abdomen.
